About this desk
Sgbenefitsinfohub is an independent reference desk on one vertical: financing of long-term care and caregiving support in Singapore. It opened in 2026. It is not a government agency, not a statutory board, not an insurer, and not a broker. It does not take applications and it does not decide them.
The independence sentence in the footer is the same sentence we mean here. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any Singapore government agency, statutory board or insurer.
What we do
We keep nine schemes in one reading: CareShield Life, ElderShield for legacy cohorts, MediSave Care, the Home Caregiving Grant, means-tested subsidies for home, centre-based and residential care, the Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund, IDAPE, the Caregivers Training Grant, and home adaptation support for seniors.
The work is to map gates, forms of support, and interactions. A household that understands the three gates — clinical, financial, cohort — can read an official form without treating it as a master key to every other form. That is the product of this desk.
We write in Singapore English, we date our reviews, and we send a short notes digest when a rule, threshold or form in this vertical changes on our pages. Nothing else goes out on that list.
What we do not do
- We do not lodge or decide applications. We do not hold login access to any agency system and we do not act as an intermediary.
- We do not sell insurance or care services. There is no panel of providers, no brokerage, and no commission path on this site.
- We do not quote live S$ amounts as if they were frozen. Structure is on Payout and subsidy tables. Quantum lives on the official page.
- We do not cover adjacent social policy. Housing allocation, education, unemployment and family payments are out of scope except where home adaptation is the subject.
- We do not publish staff biographies or client stories. The desk is impersonal on purpose. No names, portraits, job titles or testimonials appear here.
- We do not keep case files. Do not send NRIC copies, assessment reports or means-test letters to the desk e-mail.
Method
The method is documentary. We read the public materials issued for each of the nine schemes, we compare wording across schemes that share a gate, and we write the difference in plain terms. When two official pages use the same word for different things — “home care” and “Home Caregiving Grant” is the usual example — we keep both and we spell out the distinction.
Each content page carries a review month. The Notes & updates log records what changed on this desk and why. If this site and an official source disagree, the official source is the one that governs. We would rather a page be a little behind a gazette than invent a threshold to look current.
Worked examples are labelled hypothetical. They exist to show sequence and arithmetic shape, not to predict a household’s band. Statistics on the overview are counts in the subject matter: nine schemes, six ADLs, a three-ADL threshold, one household test. They are not counts of families we have “helped”.
